Collaboration Opportunities
We are also offering our experimental infrastructure as hub for international research collaborations also beyond our current research projects. Feel free to contact us with ideas for joint projects making use of our expertise and our experimental facilities.
- The pulsed Townsend experiment (see High Voltage Gaseous Insulation project) enables us to measure electron and ion swarm parameters in arbitrary gases, such as the reaction rates of ionization, attachment, detachment and conversion, the electron and ion mobilities, and the longitudinal electron diffusion coefficient. These parameters enable simulations of electrical discharges/low-temperature plasmas.
- The Flexible Pulsed Direct Current Source (see Switching in HVDC systems) enables us to stress components with arbitrary current shapes up to 3 kA and slopes of 50 kA/ms for up to 20 ms and driving voltages up to 3 kV. We have used this source for detailed (switching arc) characterization and investigation of the safe operating area of power electronic components. We are currently in the process of upgrading the source to 20 (30) kA and 10 kV.
